April 2024 Meeting – Long Beach VA Therapy Gardens

We are delighted to announce that we will be having our 1st meeting of 2024 to kick off spring at the colorful and expansive Long Beach Veterans Therapy Gardens. Due to the generosity and dedication of Alex Franco “Plumeria Papa” we are able to conduct an exciting event that is well worth your time to attend. As usual we will have guided tours of the gardens which should be in full bloom and a sight to see for any flower fans. Also the bird tour was a big hit last year so if you like bird watching this is a great venue to get your fill. Then we will have a fantastic live demo by Alex on how to root hibiscus cuttings using multiple types of rooting media. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn first hand from someone that has mastered this process using different methods and obtaining success in multiple ways. This will be the first of two clinics about rooting hibiscus cuttings and the next one Alex will supply attendees with cuttings so they can root their own hibiscus for free and be on the way to growing their own new plant!

 

We will be providing chilled water for the meeting and there is a restroom facility on site. We will have a couple dozen chairs and shaded canopies but we recommend to bring your own chair and whatever else makes you comfortable. Please see the map below to navigate to the VA Gardens. It is located just east of the water tower. Enter the VA property off of Bellfower Blvd at Medal of Honor Blvd. Head east on Medal of Honor Blvd all the way until it ends at Parking Lot G. Go left into the parking lot and park there. The Therapy Gardens are located at the bottom end of the parking lot on the other side of the road by the water towers. Please refer to the map below.
