DESCRIPTION:PLEASE CLICK ON THE HEADER LINE OF THIS EVENT TO SEE THE FULL INFO \nWe are delighted to announce that we will be having our 1st meeting of 2024 to kick off spring at the colorful and expansive Long Beach Veterans Therapy Gardens. Due to the generosity and dedication of Alex Franco “Plumeria Papa” we are able to conduct an exciting event that is well worth your time to attend. As usual we will have guided tours of the gardens which should be in full bloom and a sight to see for any flower fans. Also the bird tour was a big hit last year so if you like bird watching this is a great venue to get your fill. Then we will have a fantastic live demo by Alex on how to root hibiscus cuttings using multiple types of rooting media. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn first hand from someone that has mastered this process using different methods and obtaining success in multiple ways. This will be the first of two clinics about rooting hibiscus cuttings and the next one Alex will supply attendees with cuttings so they can root their own hibiscus for free and be on the way to growing their own new plant!\n \nWe will be providing chilled water for the meeting and there is a restroom facility on site. We will have a couple dozen chairs and shaded canopies but we recommend to bring your own chair and whatever else makes you comfortable. We hope to see you there and please invite any family or friends you think would be interested. \n \nPlease see the map below to navigate to the VA Gardens. It is located just east of the water tower. Enter the VA property off of Bellfower Blvd at Medal of Honor Blvd. Head east on Medal of Honor Blvd all the way until it ends at Parking Lot G. Go left into the parking lot and park there. The Therapy Gardens are located at the bottom end of the parking lot on the other side of the road by the water towers. Please refer to the map below. \n \nIf you would like to be added onto our event email list please use the contact form here on our website or email us at: socalhibiscussociety@gmail.com\n \nWe look forward to seeing you there!\n \n\n \nMAP & DIRECTIONS TO THE THERAPY GARDENS AT THE LONG BEACH VA\n \n \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:August 2023 Bonus Meeting - Oceanside Hibiscus Haven
DESCRIPTION:The hot summer action at the Southern California Hibiscus Society continues as we are quickly approaching another stellar meeting this month. We are delighted to be holding our next event at the home of Eric and Carol Hansen in the lovely town of Oceanside. Take a break from the summer heat and head to the coast where the Hansens have been busy creating a stellar hibiscus landscaped garden over the past several years. This is a great opportunity to learn a lot of expert tips and see how with the right mindset a well planned out strategy can lead to a very successful outcome. \n \nThis meeting will be a potluck event but the main course will be provided so we are asking all attendees to bring a side dish or dessert. Also a portable restroom will be on site for your convenience as well. There will be a lot of great information packed into this meeting so a great way to spend part of your weekend for sure! SUMMARY:SCHS August 2022 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Hello Hibiscus Friends\,\n \nWe are very excited to announce our next meeting for this year at our favorite location of locations. Dr Ernest Curtis’ beautiful and mind blowing hibiscus gardens property in North Tustin\, Orange County. If there is a meeting not to miss this is it! \n \nAs usual Dr Curtis has not rested a minute and has added even more stunning hibiscus plants and plumeria trees to his unparalleled property. Rumor has it that he has just about run out of space but we just can’t believe it. Come see for yourself ~ close to 400 exotic hibiscus plants in ground and many many dozens of mature\, showcase plumeria trees like you’ve rarely seen before. This will be a feast for your eyes that you won’t soon forget.\n \nWe will be holding another fantastic hibiscus plant drawing and auction so get ready to go home with some great plants! 11am will be our time to ask the experts any of your burning hibiscus and plumeria questions you might have. Great chance to see in person what it takes to get top notch results!\n \nThe meeting will take place outdoors only with no access to the inside of the home. We will be providing cold bottled water and chairs although we recommend to bring your own too. We will probably run out of chairs so bring your own along with something to keep you cool as it is August and can get hot hot hot! Like Dr Curtis’ insane endless amounts of beautiful hibiscus and plumeria that will delight your senses. Talk about reducing your carbon footprint in the best way possible!\n \nWe expect a sizeable turnout for this meeting and Tropic Lane might fill up fast so please use the map included to park on the designated streets. Do not park on Newport Ave – cars travel at high speeds and crossing it is very dangerous. Also if you need to use a restroom there is a park nearby that can be accessed. Please ask us for more info.\n \n\n \nBring your family and friends – anyone is welcome to enjoy this fantastic location. If you would like to receive the meeting invite with location address and details please email us: socalhibiscussociety@gmail.com or use the contact form here on our website.\n \nAlso keep an eye out for our upcoming email showing our drawing and auction plants for the meeting. \n \nSee you there! \n \nThe SCHS Crew
